Project

Titusville Causeway Restoration

Grant Amount

$670,000.00

Project Description

The Titusville Causeway Multi-Trophic Restoration and Living Shoreline Resiliency Action Project in Brevard County aims to protect and enhance the Indian River Lagoon (IRL) shoreline. Key features include constructing a nearshore breakwater reef, a living shoreline, seagrass planting, and clam seeding. This project will improve water quality, reduce erosion, and stabilize sediments. It also offers recreational benefits and enhances viewing areas for rocket launches. The project addresses frequent shoreline damage and flooding risks, identified in Brevard County’s 2021 Planning for Resilience report. It’s designed to mitigate wind-driven wave energy and flood risks, thereby increasing the area’s resilience and ecological stability. The grant was submitted to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Resilient Florida Implementation grant program and developed in collaboration with Sea & Shoreline, Brevard County and Langton Consulting.
